We are excited to announce a significant expansion of our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing capabilities, including the addition of a state of the art third SMT line, upgrades to existing lines, and new reflow technology. These advancements will allow us to meet the growing complexity and production volumes of modern PCB assemblies while maintaining the precision and quality that our customers expect.

Enhanced Third SMT Line
The centerpiece of this expansion is the installation of an upgraded third SMT line, featuring the advanced Yamaha YSP10 stencil printer and Yamaha YSM20R pick-and-place machine.
The YSP10 stencil printer sets a new standard for precision, delivering exceptional accuracy in solder paste application—a critical factor for ensuring reliable solder joints. With positioning repeatability of ±0.01 mm and the capability to handle boards up to 510 mm x 510 mm, the YSP10 is designed for versatility and consistency. Its state-of-the-art alignment and advanced print technologies make it particularly well-suited for intricate PCB designs, where even the slightest deviations could impact performance.
The YSM20R pick-and-place machine complements the stencil printer by offering high-speed, high-precision component placement. Capable of handling component packages as small as 0201 metric (0.2 mm x 0.1 mm) and as large as 55 mm x 100 mm, the YSM20R is one of the most versatile pick-and-place machines available. Its capacity to support up to 140 unique feeders ensures it can efficiently handle complex assemblies with a large number of unique components, meeting the needs of cutting-edge designs across industries. With a mounting accuracy of ±0.035mm, and a placement speed of 95,000 components per hour, the YSM20R does not compromise on quality or performance.

By improving this third SMT line, we have significantly increased our production capabilities while maintaining the high standards of precision and reliability that MJS Designs is known for.

Dual Pick and Place Upgrade
As part of this initiative, we have also enhanced one of our existing SMT lines by adding a second YSM20R pick-and-place machine. This upgrade means that two of our SMT lines now feature dual pick-and-place machines, making them uniquely suited for complex PCBs with a large number of unique components on the bill of materials (BOM).
With these advancements, we can now accommodate larger production volumes for intricate and densely populated PCBs. Whether it is fulfilling demanding orders for aerospace systems, high-complexity military electronics, industrial equipment, or commercial products, this enhancement strengthens our ability to meet the high-volume production needs of industries where reliability and precision are paramount.

Incorporating Nitrogen Reflow
To further advance our capabilities, we have added a BTU Pyramax 125N nitrogen oven to one of our SMT lines. This cutting-edge reflow oven is designed to provide a controlled, inert nitrogen atmosphere during the soldering process, addressing the needs of components that require reduced oxidation for optimal performance. Nitrogen-enhanced reflow is especially valuable for components with sensitive metallization or fine-pitch pads. By minimizing oxidation during soldering, the Pyramax 125N ensures strong, reliable solder joints, even for the most sensitive components.
