The stockroom at MJS Designs is a hub of constant activity, with parts arriving, being carefully verified and kitted for production, and later returned, restocked, and tracked. At the heart of it all is Angela Espinoza. As Stockroom Attendant, Angela ensures that the team has exactly what they need, exactly when they need it. Her years of experience, keen attention to detail, and strong desire to streamline processes keep the stockroom, and MJS Designs as a whole, running like a well-oiled machine.
“Since I started, MJS Designs has grown so much,” Angela says. “I’ve already seen two expansions, and it’s been amazing to watch. I’ve worked in several different areas of the stockroom – when I first started, it was one room. Then we moved into a larger space, and now we’re preparing to move again. It has really grown from what it used to be.”
Angela joined MJS Designs 14 years ago, after her mom, an MJS Designs team member at the time, suggested she attend a job fair. She has been an integral part of the team ever since. Angela began her journey in the stockroom, moved into documentation, contributed to soldering, and ultimately returned to the stockroom, where she has truly thrived as she enjoys the repetition of the role and finds the documentation of the parts very interesting.
“Over the past 14 years, I have learned a lot about the parts that we receive. At first, they looked like a bunch of random things but now I can distinguish what a certain part looks like just by looking at the part numbers. I can read the part number and know exactly what I’m looking for,” shares Angela.
As a Stockroom Attendant, Angela’s days are satisfyingly busy. Lately, Angela’s main focus has been receiving. This means when packages are delivered, she carefully checks in each part, matches it to the purchase order, confirms which orders require certificates, verifies that the vendor’s certificates align with the manufacturer’s, and cross-references everything against the bill of material (BOM). On any given day, Angela can process upwards of 20 packages, carefully determining whether each shipment contains components for a build, which can include up to a hundred line items, or office and production supplies.
From there, each part received is linked to a work ticket, ensuring it goes directly to the job it belongs to. Once a job is fully kitted, the production team collects the kit and begins the build. When the job is complete, production returns the kit to the stockroom, where Angela and her team count all leftover parts, verify that nothing was missed, and return the remaining balance into MJS Designs stock. If a part doesn’t yet have a BIN location, one is assigned at this stage, keeping inventory organized and ready for future projects.
“We all work with each other in the stockroom. We help each other with ideas and have contributed on how to make the processes easier and better, especially when it comes to BOM lots” expresses Angela. “We have a picking sheet where we document all of the items, the item numbers, the location and sometimes even what the part looks like. This has been very helpful for us as well as the manufacturing team.”
In addition to receiving, Angela plays a key role in tracking product expirations. This responsibility highlights her role as a vital liaison between the purchasing and manufacturing teams, and her years of experience, along with her deep familiarity with parts, item numbers, and even the look of each component, make her an invaluable resource. As Angela works so closely with parts every day, she has developed an incredible ability to quickly locate what’s needed, even when it means navigating additional warehouse spaces, which greatly helps manufacturing. She also communicates with the purchasing team regarding incoming orders. Furthermore, alongside her colleagues, Angela has contributed ideas to improve systems and streamline processes, helping the team work more efficiently every day.
“I like that people can come to me and ask for help,” shares Angela. “When they need help searching for a part or looking for certifications, I’m happy to have the answers for them. I also really appreciate everyone’s contribution to MJS Designs. They are so friendly, so loyal and so helpful.”
One thing Angela enjoys most about her role is helping her colleagues. She takes pride in being the go-to person with the answers and enjoys lending a hand whenever it’s needed. Having been part of MJS Designs for so many years, she feels fortunate to have had a front-row seat to the company’s growth. Angela also deeply values the overall contribution of every team member and appreciates the collective desire to do their best.

When she’s not keeping the stockroom running smoothly, Angela enjoys being out and about, spending time with her 2-year-old daughter and attending family gatherings. An avid football fan, she can also be found cheering on her beloved Dallas Cowboys every Sunday during the season.
