Employee Highlight – Chase Crews

With over two decades of experience across many aspects of manufacturing, Manufacturing Documentation Specialist and IPC Certified Trainer, Chase Crews, brings a unique and valuable perspective to the team. His attention to detail, team-oriented approach and dedication to teaching his colleagues make him an essential contributor at MJS Designs.

“I love the challenge and problem solving that comes with the role,” says Chase. “I love being given the pieces of the puzzle and putting them all together to make sure that we put out the best product we can.”

Chase’s journey into manufacturing began unexpectedly, sparked from a practical decision to take a job in the field. However, it didn’t take long for Chase to realize how much he enjoyed the work. As he learned more about the intricacies of the manufacturing process, he embraced the opportunity to challenge himself – continually learning, improving and striving for excellence. Three years ago, Chase joined MJS Designs, bringing with him over two decades of extensive experience in various areas of manufacturing including production, quality assurance, and leadership. His diverse background enables him to bring a well-rounded and unique perspective to his current role.

As the Manufacturing Documentation Specialist, Chase plays a pivotal role in supporting the manufacturing process at MJS Designs. Working closely with the production management team, Chase’s primary responsibility is creating, managing, and maintaining critical documentation for each job, commonly referred to as the ” Traveler.” These documents guide the production process step by step, from incoming receiving to shipping and all of the steps in between, ensuring the team stays on track and operates efficiently from start to finish. This also includes managing and tracking any changes and revisions, ensuring the most current documents are available when needed. In addition, Chase is responsible for compiling the AS9102 reports, which serve as essential customer quality documentation. As a certified trainer, a key aspect of his role involves conducting IPC-A-610H, J-STD-001H, and IPC/WHMA-A-620 training, which emphasizes the Industry Electronic Standards for workmanship and inspection—standards that every employee at MJS Designs adheres to.

“Seeing the company grow in the short time I’ve been here—whether through expanding equipment or a growing team—is inspiring. It’s a great team environment where everyone is trying to help each other out and teach each other. It’s all about helping in any way I can,” shares Chase.

Chase thrives on the challenge and problem solving that comes with his role. Each board and project presents its own unique set of challenges, which is an exciting and rewarding endeavor for him. During his time at MJS Designs, Chase has developed a deep understanding of the intricacies of circuit boards, something he has really enjoyed learning about. From a simple remote control to advanced technologies like satellites or space rovers, he has come to appreciate the precision and complexity required in each design. Chase attributes much of his success to the supportive and collaborative environment at MJS Designs and takes pride in working with a team that values the importance of teamwork, shared goals and care for others.

“Since Chase joined our team, we have streamlined our AS9102 customer requirements, enhancing efficiency across the board. Thanks to his diligence in maintaining training, we consistently stay ahead with IPC certifications for both new and current staff. Chase has introduced an innovative idea to improve our traveler documentation—I’m excited to see it come to life. His initiative makes him an invaluable member of our Manufacturing team, and it’s a pleasure to have him on board.” says Dawn Northrop, President of MJS Designs.

When Chase isn’t at MJS Designs ensuring that the manufacturing documentation and training is operating smoothly, Chase enjoys spending time at home with his family. For Chase, being a husband and father is the role he values most.
